EPSRC/RSSB/DfT Strategic Partnership

A new strategic partnership to support industry research and development

In May 2009, RSSB, alongside its research funder, the Department for Transport (DfT), formed a partnership with the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) to jointly fund academic research related to the performance and sustainability of the railway system.

RSSB and its members have an interest in gaining access to specific academic research with application to improving the performance and sustainability of the railway system, supporting a cost-effective and safe railway. EPSRC is interested in supporting activities in research organisations leading to exploitation of results of benefit to the UK economy. This partnership was introduced to help deliver these mutual interests.

Funds for research are available to researchers responding to calls for proposals which are published by the partnership.
