Safety Performance Reporting
Page Content
Reporting of the industry’s safety performance takes place at regular intervals. Each month, a summary of safety performance is produced which describes the main events that have occurred during the month, focusing on fatalities, train accidents and SPADs. The report compares current progress on a number of such indicators with previous years.
For a copy of the latest summary reports, please visit our Safety Performance Reports publication section.
In addition to the monthly summaries, more detailed safety performance reports are produced annually and at the half-year.
RSSB's risk analysis team also provides risk based safety performance data to the industry periodically. This comprises the following:
- The outputs from the Safety Risk Model and the risk ranking methodology for Signals Passed At Danger (SPADs) that are used within the annual and half-year safety performance reports to measure performance against the risk based objectives agreed by the industry within the Railway Group Safety Plan (RGSP).
- Special Topic Reports (STR) that provide in-depth studies of specific areas within the rail network. The reports incorporate both statistical and risk based data analyses. Special Topic Reports can be found by clicking on the publications section.
