Workforce DevelopmentWhat we doWorkforce Development is defined as those aspects of education and training, competence, accreditation, licensing and assessment having application to the railway workforce.The role covers:Provision of technical advice in Workforce Development to support RSSB's activities and services, including:
Current activities includeNational Occupational Standards: RSSB has a ‘heads of agreement’ with GoSkills, the passenger transport Sector Skills Council (SSC). This has provided RSSB the opportunity to align training standards with the other technical and safety standards for the industry. National Rail Skills Agenda: Work with our key stakeholders and government agencies through the Rail Industry Skills Forum (RISF). Industry Support: Provision of advice and briefings for industry in areas of workforce development and competence. This includes Board membership of the Association of Railway Training providers (ARTP) and Yellow Book Training group. Presentation of conference papers. International: Attendance at UIC International Training group and EC meetings dealing with workforce development and competence issues. Extranet: At industry request we have set up this extranet as a means for you to access relevant RSSB documents and standards, research projects and reports and related external committees and groups that are involved in workforce development issues and policy. It will enable professionals working in the industry to have an active dialogue by way of the discussion section and maintain their diaries with relevant meetings.
