National Incident Reporting

NIR-Online is a means of initiating, disseminating and managing National Incident Reports (NIRs). These concern urgent safety related defects to rail vehicles, plant and machinery.
The web-based application which is used by almost 200 companies has over 1200 individual users within the rail industry.

NIR-Online helps rail industry companies to share knowledge and best practice with regard to engineering and safety. It provides an accessible and searchable database containing urgent safety related defect information. NIR-Online’s features include sharing documents, photographs and drawings. Registered users are notified of new NIRs by email or mobile phone text message.
NIR-Online is funded and co-ordinated by the RSSB on behalf of the rail industry.
