Executive director appointed

Rail Safety and Standards Board (RSSB) has announced the appointment of Anson Jack, formally head of European affairs, to the position of executive director, standards. The role involves responsibility for evaluation, formal inquiries, Railway Group Standards, technical services and European affairs.

Anson Jack reports to Len Porter, RSSB chief executive, and will sit on the RSSB Board of directors.

Len Porter said: ‘I am delighted that Anson’s position has been endorsed by the RSSB Board and by our Members at our Annual General Meeting on 14 July. Anson has already made an excellent contribution whilst acting in the role and I look forward to working with him to address the many challenges we face going forward’.

Commenting on his appointment, Anson Jack, said: ‘I am very pleased to be given the responsibility to drive standards forward and to help RSSB meet the needs of the industry’.

Anson Jack, 47, has spent 25 years in the rail industry. After joining the industry as a graduate trainee in 1979, he has worked in operations, freight, commercial, strategy and European affairs at British Rail, Railtrack and Network Rail.
