What are the key steps in the process?

The process to change a Railway Group Standard (RGS) is set out in the Railway Group Standards Code , with further detail in the Standards Manual (which includes a summary flow chart on page 7 of 44). All proposals for change must be accompanied by a suitable assessment of the impact of the proposed change on safety, cost and performance, as well as explaining the rationale for the change. Information regarding how to make a proposal for change to a RGS, or apply for a deviation from a RGS is available from the RSSB website.
