The Vehicle / Train Control & Comms (V/TC&C) SIC is chaired by Clive Burrows from First Group and had its first meeting on 24 June 2004. This SIC has taken over the remaining technical issues from the TPWS SA, but has a wider remit, covering many other signalling and train control systems as well.

The SIC has the following sub-groups:

• AWS Working Group
• Chiltern ATP User Management Group
• UK GRAIL Steering Committee
• Great Western ATP User Management Group
• RETB Working Group
• Future Communications and Satellite Positioning Advisory Group
• Train Control Technical Sub Group
• Vehicle Communications Advisory Group
• Selective Door Opening Steering Group
• Track Circuit Actuators Working Group
• Train Protection Warning System Long Term Strategy Group (TPWS SG)

These groups are bodies of cross industry representatives assembled to provide technical and operational expertise to the SIC in order to achieve its objectives.
