Tony Mercado of ALSTOM Transport is the chairman of the V/TE SIC. The V/TE SIC was formed in October 2007 as a result of the extension of the Vehicle/Traction Supply SIC's remit to look into energy issues.

The V/TE SIC replaced the V/TS SIC and is currently revising proposals internally for the formation of sub-groups.
