Giving Passengers a Helping Hand on the Platform

Accidents on the platform account for the biggest fatality risk to passengers. On average four people are killed at the platform edge each year and about 1,400 people are injured.

There is huge potential for reducing risks at the platform, if you know what to look for. In 2016, we published ‘Platform Safety – The facts and your role’, for station staff, to help them understand risk related to the platform and the simply things staff can do to help prevent incidents.
