Innovation, Creativity and Research is the strapline for this year's Next Generation Rail conference happening this summer as part of RailWeek.
The RSSB event (delivered by Rail Research UK Association) is RailWeek's headline event, taking place at the National Training Academy for Rail in Northampton on 30 June and 1 July, with site visits on 29 June. The industry-led Rail Week initiative is championed by the Young Rail Professionals and celebrates all that is great about rail. It aims to tackle the broader industry challenge around skills by putting rail into the hearts and minds of young people across the UK, through an industry-wide week-long programme of events and outreach, targeted at schools, colleges and universities, to show them how rail works and the careers that it offers.
Neil Robertson, CEO of the National Skills Academy for Rail said: It is heartening and indeed inspiring to see the passion and energy in the young rail professionals. The future is clearly bright - we just need a few more of them.
Next Generation Rail brings together graduates and apprentices from industry and early-career researchers and PhD students working on rail project in academia.
The conference aims to foster collaboration between future rail leaders and educators, attract and retain young talent, enhance young professionals' soft skills, and promote innovation in rail transport. Kate Bellingham, TV Presenter, engineer and STEM Champion, will be the guest speaker at the Next Generation Rail dinner on Thursday 30 June.
