We’re Excited to Announce that our New Website is now Live
Members, affiliates and stakeholders have and will continue to collaborate with us as we develop the website further to ensure that the specifications are tailored to user needs.
An important change going forward is that, users will be asked to set up an account and log in to access content. In doing so you will be able to manage your subscriptions and preferences and see content that is most relevant to you. Our accounts are based on user needs and operations. These are detailed below:
RSSB members are individuals or companies operating in any part of Great Britain’s rail sector. As a member you will be eligible to access all products, toolkits, analysis and insight.
RSSB affiliates are individuals or companies operating in the railway sector and based outside of Great Britain. As an Affiliates you will be eligible to see many products, toolkits, analysis and insight.
If you do not work in the rail industry you can access some of our content, but you will need to create a registered user account.
If you would like to enquire about becoming a member or an affiliate, please contact our Engagement Manager, Chris Leech.
We hope you like the new website. If you have any questions please refer to the ‘frequently asked questions’ below, which also provides contact details for any feedback you would like to provide.
Frequently asked questions
After I have registered, will the website remember who I am?
If you save your details on registration, you will not be required to register again to gain access. You can specify in your browser settings whether you want to save passwords for the sites that you visit.
I already have a log in for SPARK / SRM / Rulebook, can I use these details to log in to the website?
If you already have an account for any one of these products/services, there is no need to register again. You can use the same account details and password for our website. All you need to do is login to access your desired content.
Will RSSB be making any further improvements to the site?
We are taking a "release early and often" approach to continually improve our website. In the world of web design and management, this is considered the best way to do things. We are building the new site in collaboration with our customers, releasing new functionality and content on a regular basis and asking our members, affiliates and stakeholders for feedback to ensure it reflects their needs. This forms part of the wider RSSB initiative to focus on our customer’s experience and their requirements.
Why do I have to log in to access the website?
RSSB is an independent, not-for-profit organisation whose decisions are derived through member consensus. Limited by guarantee and funded by over 100-member companies as well as the Department for Transport (DfT), we are governed by our Board which is representative of our membership base. Like other member funded organisations our members are our priority, and our website now provides them with access to more products, toolkits, analysis and insight than other users. This also gives us greater control in ensuring that those best qualified to use our products and services have access.
How do I get access to restricted content?
If you or your company are operating in any part of Great Britain’s rail sector, you are eligible to become an RSSB member. If you or your company are based outside of Great Britain, please enquire about becoming an affiliate.
How do I know what will change next?
We are continuing to develop our website, adding new functionality and making changes based on user feedback. Future developments will include: an upgraded Standards Catalogue, an updated Research Catalogue, improved search functionality and improved personalisation of content to help you find what is most relevant to you in your role. If you are interested in helping us to develop our website going forward, please get in touch with email@example.com.
Why has the R&D content not been restricted?
Most of our research and development work is funded directly by the Department for Transport (DfT). RSSB and DfT have agreed that research findings are shared widely for the benefit of the GB rail industry and UK plc.
How do I find the content I am looking for?
We have changed the structure of the site based on our user research and with input from User Experience experts and our users. If you can't find the content you are looking for, our new search functionality should help you find it straight away. Failing that, please feel free to get in touch and we will find it for you. Rest assured, we are continuing to develop the site, including its search functionality, and we will continue to seek feedback from our users.
Where can I find Opsweb on the new website?
We have fully integrated Opsweb into RSSB.co.uk; key resources can be found here. As a RSSB member or affiliate, you will need to register / login to access the content.
