RED 39 - Keeping a Cool Head

RED 39 reconstructs an incident which vividly demonstrates the need to keep a cool head in emergency situations.

The programme reconstructs an incident which occurred at Westerfield, near Ipswich, when a lorry delivering ballast was immobilised on the AHB crossing, blocking the line completely to an approaching train.

The programme also includes a report on operational irregularities at station platforms and, thirty years after the Polmont derailment, in which thirteen dies, asks to what extend large animals on the line are still a hazard.
