RED 41 - Just Another Day

Inspired by a real event, the dramatic reconstruction in this edition of RED, sees two track workers narrowly avoid being killed when a train passes a signal at danger, in a semaphore signalled area.

The important lessons to be learnt from this event are:

  • how signals are worked in semaphore areas
  • the meaning of flashing indicators when setting up TPWS
  • how to send Railway Emergency Calls

We also report on the launch of the new cross-industry platform-train interface (PTI) strategy and the new publication information campaign to help reduce accidents at the PTI. Finally, we hear about some of the innovative measures the railway has taken to help both freight and passenger trains run safety through the winter months.

WARNING! This edition of RED contains strong language.
