RED 43 - Emergency

The dramatic incident featured in this edition of RED is based on real life events which culminated in an uncontrolled emergency evacuation.

We look at how prompt and decisive action by drivers, and good communication between drivers and their passengers, could help prevent a difficult situation from spiralling out of control.

In part two, we look at how Southern Railway tackled the problem of stop short door releases by creating an effective awareness campaign. We also cover a recent away day exercise designed to test the co-ordination of many different responders to a serious incident that required a controlled passenger evacuation.
