Data, Systems and Telematics Standards Committee
06/03/2026
The Data, Systems and Telematics Standards Committee (DST SC) was established in September 2022 and is the newest of RSSB's standards committees.
'The DST SC has responsibility for managing the change control process for the telematics NTSNs. Additionally, the committee oversees the development of standards, guidance notes and other documents that support transport operators by advancing data interoperability.'
Scope
The scope of the DST SC is defined in its remit. The committee’s coverage includes:
- Systems that assist in long-, short- and very-short-term planning of the railway, across timetabling, rolling stock and traincrew, as well as the reference databases that support these functions. This also includes the provision of live operational information, such as train running, location, and allocation information.
- Data that support the processes and systems above and would usefully be shared between organisations through open, standardised interfaces. This may include the creation of standardised data models.
- The technical requirements set out in the Telematic Applications for Freight and the Telematic Applications for Passenger Services (TAF and TAP) National Technical Specification Notices (NTSNs) for the exchange of data, information and messages between organisations and systems.
