RSSB launches new video series for rail leaders
Our Rail Leader Update covers the latest developments in rail standards, safety, health and wellbeing, sustainability, and research and innovation – priority areas for RSSB and the wider industry. Presented by one of our directors, each two-minute video captures how we are working with our cross-industry groups to deliver the support rail organisations need.
Tom Lee, RSSB’s Director of Standards, kicks off the series with an update on our work in rail standards, covering recent developments and what can be expected in the coming months. It is a must-watch for rail leaders who want to know the steps we are taking, in conjunction with cross-industry committees, to make the railways safer, more efficient and more cost-effective.
Among the headlines Tom shares in his update are the benefits that will be delivered for the industry over the next five years following the latest standards update in September. These have been valued at more than £25m.
He says: “We’ve made changes to operational rules to deliver improved operational procedures, better management of differential speeds, and the assurance of safety critical software. Overall, we anticipate these will deliver benefits of greater than £25m for the industry over the next five years. And that assessment of benefits is very pessimistic”.
In the coming weeks and months, we will be updating rail leaders on our work in safety, health and wellbeing, sustainability, and research and innovation.
