Watch RED 61 - Detraining
Why do passengers sometimes self-evacuate? RAIB has demonstrated that it’s often due to trains breaking down, destroying the passengers’ own tight timetables and commitments. Sometimes, a lack of communication from staff makes things worse. Sometimes, staff training can make things worse again.
RED 61 gives you the story, provides pointers on how to reduce the risks, and suggests ways to help keep everyone in the picture when an incident occurs. That way, a passenger’s desire to get off the train to catch a flight, get home or get away might be reduced.
Available to members and affiliates, our RED videos provide the rail workforce with awareness on a range of safety issues, to help reduce operational risk. Each episode conveys safety messages about railway operations with an emphasis on key learning points. RED is used in safety briefings and training sessions across the industry.
