The Precursor Indicator Model measures the underlying risk from train accidents by tracking changes in accident precursors, and is calibrated against the Safety Risk Model.
The Precursor Indicator Model (PIM)
From this page you can access a summary and the full detailed spreadsheet of the most recently calculated PIM results. The summary sheets include charts to illustrate the changing train accident risk over time, as modelled by the PIM. The fully detailed sheets are very large files and should be downloaded rather than launched from the site. Opening them in MS Excel will then allow you to create a pivot table for filtering and summarising the results in a way that best suits your organisation’s needs.

Results from the PIM can be found in publications such as the
Annual Safety Performance Report.
