The Merseyrail energy monitoring project

DC powered railway systems have significant losses in the power network. This paper presents results from a project that aims to measure simultaneously the power output from substations and power input to vehicles. Data have been recorded during initial instrumentation test runs on a vehicle and separately in two substations.
