Applying hybrid type energy storage system in AC railway

This paper introduces technical characteristic, installation operation data and expected economical effect about alternating current (AC) energy storage system (ESS) at the high speed operation commercial line in KOREA. Compare to DC type ESS, regenerative power recycling rate is lower because of the distance between substations and train operation diagram.
