Simulations and measurements on electrical resonances on thePortuguese 25 kV network

The higher switching frequencies of modern traction converters can lead to resonances which can cause costly malfunctions, as the Eigen frequencies of traction power supply systems are relatively low and as dampening can be low as well. Unfortunately EMC standards nor traction power supply standards give guidance on this subject.
