Coal dust contamination (TM-TAG-145)

A number of problems associated with the loss of coal dust from Merry-Go-Round coal wagons have been highlighted. Coal dust is said to be contributing to the cost of civil engineering maintenance and renewals. The MARPAS costing system which is currently under development allocates costs to cover additional ballast cleaning.
