Computational fluid dynamics simulation of load loss from HAA coal carrying hopper wagons (IM-AER-198)

The transport of coal using standard HAA hopper wagons has been subject to a long term operating difficulty. During operation in high wind conditions serious load loss has been experienced. Such load loss has implications for both British Rail, and the customer taking delivery of the coal (National Power, Powergen).
