Development of a bridge collapse warning system (TM-CES-131)

In recent years there have been three bridge failures on the British Rail network due to scour on the foundations of piers and abutments. The two most publicised cases were at Glanrhyd Bridge in Wales and Ness viaduct in Scotland. Unfortunately, the incident at Glanrhyd resulted in loss of life.
