Ballast compaction using a wacker triple plate unit (TM-TD-040)

In order to produce high quality track after relaying, it is necessary to produce a smooth and well compacted ballast bed. This may be achieved by vibrating the ballast whilst applying a vertical load. Suitable machinery ranges from on track, Dynamic Track Stabiliser (DTS) machines to hand pushed vibrating devices.
