Mickleover rail vibration experiment, summer 1983. Report 1 : experimental procedure and some preliminary results (IM-SAV-031)

The primary aim of the Wheel/Rail Noise Project of the Acoustics Section is to determine the mechanism of generation and emission of train rolling noise. Mathematical models of the response and of the acoustic radiation of both wheel and rail are required, and experiments are required to validate these models.
