Modal observer design for MK III coach optimal control (IM-DOS-167)

Reference 1 describes the design of an optimal observer for controlling an electromagnetic active suspension. However it is fairly complex and produced some formidable problems in commissioning. Therefore an alternative implementation of the optimal regulator was sought using a simpler method of reconstructing the unobserved states of the control system.
