Magnetic braking for an aerodynamic model of the trains in tunnels (IM-ES-100)

Last updated on 17 May 2013 3:21
A scaled model (Fig 1) track is being built at Mickleover to study the aerodynamic behaviour of trains travelling through tunnels at high speeds. The Electrical Systems Unit were asked to study the feasibility of an electric braking system to stop the model train when it emerges from the tunnel.
