Recent research into permanent way maintenance techniques (MR-TD-002)

Observations of the deterioration of track level and quality after conventional maintenance, particularly tamping, have suggested that increased durability would be desirable. A selective approach to the treatment of track faults is suggested and tests of a number of improved techniques are discussed.
