Derailment at Bushey on 16 Feb 80 : examination of fractured SKV-F thermit weld (TM-MF-019)

The derailment, on 16 Feb 80, of the 2025 train from Euston to Manchester was traced back to a fractured thermit weld in the cess rail of the down fast line at 15 miles 1378 yards near Bushey Station. This report describes the metallurgical examination of this weld.
