The effect of opposed longitudinal forces on two rails in generating lateral forces on the track (IM-T-005)

Bogies can exert opposed longitudinal forces on the rails which could conceivably affect the tendency of the track to move sideways. This memorandum presents a theoretical analysis which shows that this effect is unlikely to be significant.
