A new look at the coal burning locomotive (TM-LV-004)

Possible coal fired locomotive power plants are considered from the standpoint of thermal efficiency and allowable cost. A case is presented for a more detailed study of the Stirling engine and the closed cycle gas turbine, each using fluidised bed combustion.
