The generation of transient voltages in traction control equipment (TM-AUTO-011)

British Rail has used semi-conductor equipment on multiple units and locomotives for about five years. This equipment has been used for auxiliary functions such as voltage regulation, time delay and speed indication. A detailed account of service experience, on diesel electric locomotives, was presented by Kibblewhite at the I.E.E.
