A reveiw of plain track non-passenger vehicle derailments on the Southern Region for the years 1975 and 1976 (TM-FT-072)

During 1975 there were 19 derailments of non-passenger stock on Southern Region plain track reported to the R & DD, but in 1976 there were only 8. This report critically discusses the reasons for this decline in number and assesses its true value in terms of derailment rate.
