Drop test of class 86/2 S.A.B. resilient wheels and H.S.T. solid wheels (TR-TS-007)

A series of drop tests were carried out using a H.S.T. wheelset with Solid wheels and a Class 86/2 wheelset with S.A.B. resilient wheels. The results show that the S.A.B. wheels cause a noticeable reduction in the effective unsprung mass and hence the P2 type forces, at impact.
