Initial flash welding trails of low carbon high manganese steel rail (IM-FM-060)

High manganese steel is frequently used to make crossings where BS11 steel is not adequate under severe service conditions. The present designs of high manganese crossings suffer from disadvantages which could possibly be overcome by using a composite design of crossing having a small cast centre and flash welded-on legs.
