Experience with the R & D.D. arc detector on service trains (TM-ETR-049)

In order to obtain an assessment of the quality of current collection it is necessary to know how often the pantograph breaks contact with the overhead equipment. In dead-line tests this can be measured relatively simply by using the contact point as a switch in a low voltage circuit.
