Cast iron brakeblocks part 1. The friction and wear characteristics of very high phosphorus (V.H.P.) and standard cast iron using a simulated carriage axleload (TN-MS-009)

Full scale tests have been carried out on the brake dynamometer at B.S.C. (Rotherham) to compare very high phosphorus and standard cast iron brakeblocks. For this work a 7.2 tonne (carriage) axleload was employed throughout, with speeds varying from 5-50 m/s and brake forces of 10, 20, 30 and 40...
