A theoretical assessment of squat control grinding on tight curves (RR-MF-050)

Last updated on 16 August 2013 4:00
Previous work has indicated that grinding an asymmetric profile on to the high rail of curves can reduce the probability of squat cracking (rail failure types 127 and 227). The approach was not applied to curves having radii less than 1300m because of possible problems associated with gauge corner contact.
