Effective GMT - A New Concept for Arriving at Reliable Frequency of Ultrasonic Testing of Rails

Indian railways have followed in past time based concept of ultrasonic testing for rails. The time period was 1,2 or 3 years based on route gross million tonne traffic (GMT). Since 1999, Indian railways adopted need based concept. In this concept, larger flaws were permitted but frequency of testing increased.
