Internet-based international rail freight monitoring - the RailTrace system

The advances of telematic systems and applications have spread rapidly to cover all transport modes. The rail freight traffic is no exception. The purpose of this paper is to describe a project which attempts to streamline a part of the international rail transport process, a part of the transport "pipeline".
