Measuring the environmental impacts of high speed rail and maglev in North America: what railway designers need to know

This paper will introduce railway managers, railway equipment designers, technical experts, government planners, and decision-makers, to the tools and practices of environmental impact analysis for North American transportation projects. These procedures include technical, legal, and political/social activity that must be followed in order to obtain government approval for new infrastructure.
