The Italian State Railways (FS) have always paid great attention to innovations in infrastructures. The increasing scarcity of natural resources and environmental protection laws have prompted studies on alternative materials. Hence building constructors and buyers of infrastructures are required to experiment and research new materials, innovative technologies and construction methods.
