Concept of commuter train for saving energy and costs

We have been building new commuter trains, Series 209 cars, aiming at "Half the cost, Half the life time and Half the weight" since 1991. Their results have shown a 30 % cost reduction, 30 % weight reduction and 50 % energy saving compared with Series 103 developed in 1964.
