Crowded House: Australian and Indian carriage handholds and passenger placement decisions

In a world with increasingly crowded rail networks, there is a limited understanding of passenger's experiences and choices in the enclosed moving space of the carriage. This paper will explore influences of internal carriage design on passenger's chosen location within the carriages of suburban trains in India and in Australia.
