The components to be sealed are the ring-shaped alumina cell body with glassed-in beta alumina electrolyte disc and the metal bipole which is required to be resistant to sodium sulphide at 350°C. At present the latter is a thin sheet (0.004 - 0.010") of an 18/8 type stainless steel. ...
