Rail end stress measurements in F.B. rails using nylon shims on the fishplates (TN-TAS-014)

Report E.533, dated July 1964, described an investigation into the stresses in the fishbolt holes under controlled conditions. The present report describes an investigation using similar techniques conducted at the request of the Permanent Way Sub-Committee, Minute No. 1690 and 1700, to determine the value of non-metallic shims on fishplates.
