Examination of profiles of fishing surfaces of fishplates (E-225)

Report E.196, dated April 1958, gave profiles of typical fishplates for 109 lb./yd. F.B. rails manufactured in 1957 by Colvilles Ltd., Workington Iron and Steel Co. and Dorman Long and Co. Judged by a standard of straightness agreed by the Permanent Way Sub-Committee, none of the makes were satisfactory.
