Failure of Macalloy prestressing bars in road bridge no. 65 at Northwich station (E-068)

This report considers failures of tensile reinforcing bars for a cracked cast iron bridge. It is concluded that the failures are due to fatigue induced by fluctuating stresses caused by the passage of trains under the bridge.
