Design of concrete sleeper for flat bottom rail in primary 'A' class lines (E-060)

Concrete sleepers now being produced for British Railways are manufactured in accordance with BSS. 986 : 1945 to the Class E. design. These sleepers were originally intended for use in primary track under war time speed restrictions and their strength has proved to be barely adequate under these conditions.
